We help Business to comply with their health and safety obligations

All business owners and employers have health and safety obligations. Given that the specific obligations applicable to you will vary significantly depending on the size and nature of your business, ensuring compliance can appear complicated and convoluted. Our extensive experience within the health and safety industry allows us to simplify the process for you by conducting a range of assessments and audits of your operations and workplace.

Health and Safety Assessments required for all employers

Covid-19 Risk Assessment

All employers need to have a Risk Assessment in place for when their personnel return to work and this needs to extend to people homeworking. The assessment will need to cover individual work stations as well as the workplace as a whole.

Audits

Workplace audits are a requirement of the ISO standards (insert a link to the ISO section of the Management Systems section). Audits also enable your company to demonstrate that you have put into action the measures outlined in your policies. They also give you a ‘health check’ on your Health and Safety processes to ensure they continue to meet the needs of your business. Demonstrating compliance in a practical way is also an important factor in gaining accreditation with the likes of CHAS (link to the CHAS section), Achilles or ISO standards.

We can carry out a comprehensive health and safety audit of your company to ensure compliance with current legislation and other standards that you have to meet such as ISO, CHAS etc. The audit typically include:

Reviewing your health and safety policy documentation
Risk Assessments
Display Screen Assessments
Fire Risk Assessments
Manual handling
Hazardous substances (COSHH)
(PPE) Personal Protective Equipment

Workplace Site Inspection

We have a team of highly qualified and experienced professionals who can carry out workplace site safety compliance inspections. These check compliance of the working practices and documentation such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

We take an ’arm round the shoulder’ approach to issues fond to help find solutions as opposed to simply stating what is wrong. We have found this to be a better approach gets much better results than old fashioned safety ‘policing’. We use web-based reporting tools to give you real time reporting of our findings as well as providing you with an audit trail to confirm that corrective action has been taken.

Fire Risk Assessment

This is a legal requirement for all businesses. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order has been in force since 1st April 2006. The Grenfell disaster brought this subject area into much greater focus and it is crucial that fire safety precautions are in place including the required documentation.

You will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

That all fire risks have been assessed and the results recorded with written fire risk assessment.
Records showing that firefighting equipment has been provided, properly maintained and regularly inspected.
Evidence that an Emergency Action Plan has been written, confirmed and published.
That staff have received fire training relating to the use of equipment and procedures in the event of fire.
That there are adequate means of fire detection, warning systems and escape routes in place to allow people to leave the building safely.
That action plans have been formulated and signed off to indicate proposed completion dates.
That where appropriate a Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessment has been carried out to assess the risks posed by hazardous substances in your workplace.

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessments

This is commonly referred to as a workstation assessment and is required for any employee that will be using laptops, computers, phones or tablets.

Workstations will have had to be changed due to the Coronavirus to consider social distancing together with the need for screens, cleaning etc.

What our clients think about us

★★★★★
Many thanks for your recent assistance with our CHAS renewal and continued work on our health and safety procedures. Your knowledge of the subject and process was invaluable, as was taking over the contact with our assessor.

I would not hesitate to recommend you!
Paul Sweeney, Black Pear Electrical
★★★★★
I am pleased to confirm that during 2019 James worked with us to develop an ISO 45001 compliant safety management system. He did so with a ‘can do’ and practical approach combining expert professional knowledge with straight forward, jargon-free language. He quickly gained an understanding of the culture of our business and helped us develop a system that fitted well with our activities in the UK as well as the Republic of Ireland.

I have no hesitation in recommending James to any business looking to develop their management systems and particularly those aiming to gain certification to the ISO standards.
Wayne Metcalfe, Sisk Building Contractors
★★★★★
I am pleased to confirm that over the past 12 months, James worked with us to develop an ISO
45001 compliant safety management system.
His attitude, approach and subject knowledge was invaluable in helping us to develop a system for
both our Irish and UK businesses to achieve the accreditation.
In that time, he has also worked with us on site audits and his involvement with our site teams has
always been supportive, personable and practical.
I have no hesitation in recommending James to any business looking to develop their management
systems or in supporting their on‐site functions.
Yours sincerely,
Ray O'Sullivan, mac group
